Tamil Nadu government suspend its decision to reopen Schools, Colleges

The Tamil Nadu government announced that the decision on reopening of schools for Standards IX, X, XI and XII from November 16 is being deferred until further orders. The decision was taken on the basis of mixed responses from parents and protective measure against the threat of a second wave of COVID-19. The government informed that the date for reopening of the schools will be announced later depending upon the prevailing situation.

The college and universities opinion about the reopening from November 16 was also received. Depending on the views of managements of colleges and universities and considering the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission on November 5, colleges and universities can be opened from December 2 for research students as well as for the final year students of post graduation courses in science and polytechnic courses. 

An announcement for reopening of colleges for the remaining courses will be made later. The college hostels would be opened from December 2 only for the above students with Standard Operating Procedures. The online education would continue for the remaining students.
