Chennai: Tamil Nadu government on Friday changed the names of three metro stations to the late CM C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran and J.K. They have been named after Jayalalithaa. According to the government order, Alandur station will now be known as 'Arignar Anna Alandur Metro'. The Central Metro has been named as 'Puraichi Thalaivar Dr. MG Ramachandran Metro' and CMBT station 'Puraichi Thalaivi Dr. J Jayalalithaa CMMBT Metro'.

CM of Tamil Nadu Palaniswami has said that the names of the stations have been changed after the state government approved the suggestions of the high-level committee. He also referred to the steps taken by the AIADMK government led by Jayalalithaa for the implementation of the metro rail project in the city.

CM K Palaniswami has said that in the second phase of Chennai Metro Rail, three corridors of 118.9 km will be constructed with an expenditure of Rs 61,843 crore. In this, the metro network will be connected from Madhavaram to SIPCOT, Light House to Poonamalle and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur. He said, 'The state government has passed the order in this regard, now waiting for the approval and funds of the Center.'
