CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin stated on Tuesday that the state government would build a mega book park in the state, with land being selected.

He made the statement following the presentation of state government prizes to Tamil scholars and social workers at Kalaivnar Aragam in Chennai. Stalin stated that his late father, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, had created the idea for a mega book park, but that it never materialised owing to a lot of factors. The huge book park, he said, would serve as a platform for bookstores, printers, publishers, authors, and writers.

Globally recognised book publishers will set up shop in the gigantic book park, said the Chief Minister. In the future, the book park will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas as well as a venue for cultural and literary conversations, he added. He stated that practically all new books will be available in the park, and that the government would provide the park with the essential support.
