Chennai: Due to Corona lockdown, migrant laborers are stuck in different states of the country and are demanding to return to their states. More than 100 migrant workers trapped in the Shivanand Colony in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, staged a massive protest on Tuesday. According to the police, the workers living mainly in Rathinpuri and Shivanand Colony in Coimbatore took to the streets in protest as they were the worst affected in the lockdown.

The main demand of the workers was that arrangements should be made to send them to their homes. After much persuasion with the police, the matter was settled. The local police provided food for the laborers for three days and assured them that arrangements would be made for them to return home soon. Most of the protesting workers are residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

However, the crisis of coronavirus epidemic is increasing in the country and due to this the lockdown has also increased. Long-stranded migrant workers in the lockdown are now destined to go home, gradually workers from different parts have started going home. But in the meantime, due to continuous delays in many places, the workers started an uproar.
