Tamil Nadu to run buses with 100 per cent capacity

With the reduction in new Covid 19 cases and active cases remains low, the state government's Unlocking mode in place, the State Government has now passed a GO allowing both the State transport and the private buses to run with full seat occupancy. 

Once the one among the highest affected State now is slowly crawling towards pre-covid times, the TN government has further relaxed the norms, permitting the buses to run with 100% seat occupancy. Further,the Government order has also directed the State Transport corporation to increase the service as per requirements. 

Previously, the seat occupancy was restricted to 60 per cent, as per the then Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Apparently, the transport authorities have been asked to ensure that the minimum SOPs like proper sanitisation, wearing of masks while travel is being followed. The state already started inter-state transport with Karnataka. Both states commuted the passengers due to festival seasons and agreed to continue further. The state has also started Omni bus services last month.
