Tamil Nadu government demands Karnataka to release Cauvery water

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has on Tuesday raised demand from the Karnataka government about the immediate release of part of Tamil Nadu from Cauvery in June and July. It has made this demand in front of the government during the 30th meeting of the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee through video conferencing.

In an official statement issued, it has also come out that, 'It is raining in the catchment areas, so Tamil Nadu should have nine TMCFit for June and 32 TMCFit water supply for July immediately.' Apart from this, it is also being told about Tamil Nadu, 'So far only 9 TMCfeet water has been released by Karnataka. Kuruvai and samba have started watering in the state, so the demand should be considered at the earliest.' There are reports that Tamil Nadu said about the supply of Puducherry in the meeting held.

Apart from talking about this, it presented details related to the flow, release, and storage of Cauvery water. Simultaneously, the government also asked the committee to 'ensure the supply of 177.25 TMC of water as prescribed by the tribunal and amended by the Supreme Court'. Accordingly, it has also given details related to water requirements in the state and after that, the committee informed that 'the report of the committee will be sent to the Cauvery Water Management Authority'. The chairman of the committee, Navin Kumar, took over the chairmanship of the meeting.
