Chennai: In a momentous event scheduled for Friday, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister MK Stalin will officially introduce the 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam' initiative, aimed at bolstering the economic standing of women across the state.

This initiative's launch will not only serve as a significant milestone but also fulfill a crucial election pledge made by the ruling DMK party.

Party authorities have emphasized that the program's implementation will result in a full 100% realization of the party's commitments to its constituents.

The comprehensive welfare program will offer a monthly financial aid of Rs 1,000 to women residing in underprivileged households.

CM Stalin, who also holds the position of DMK President, will inaugurate the program in Kancheepuram, the birthplace of the iconic former Chief Minister CN Annadurai, who remains an enduring symbol of the party.

The timing of this welfare program launch coincides with the birth anniversary of the late Dravidian icon, adding a layer of historical significance to the occasion.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Udhayanidhi Stalin, recently embroiled in controversy due to his comments regarding 'Sanatan Dharma,' will oversee the program's inauguration in Chennai.

Additionally, other ministers, including Sekar Babu and Ma Subramanian, among others, will preside over separate launch ceremonies held across the state.

The state government, in an official statement, revealed that a staggering 1,605 crore women are eligible to benefit from this direct cash transfer program.

Furthermore, the government has assured that eligible women who believe they have been inadvertently excluded can request enrollment through the e-Seva portal. Their requests will be diligently processed within a 30-day timeframe, ensuring inclusivity.

The promised financial assistance will be directly deposited into the bank accounts of the designated beneficiaries, streamlining the distribution process.
