Chennai: There is an outbreak of corona in Tamil Nadu. Many people are constantly falling prey to it. To fight this deadly epidemic, the Chief Minister of the state K.K. Palaniswami has demanded a special grant of Rs 9,000 crore from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also demanded Rs 15,321 crore. He has said this in a video conference meeting with PM Modi on Tuesday.

This meeting was held with several Chief Ministers. During this, Palaniswami also told the Prime Minister that "The central government should bear 50 percent of the corona testing cost of Rs5 crore per day being borne by the state". Apart from this, Palaniswami said, "Center and state tax revenue will fall short of budget estimates. To meet the ends, Tamil Nadu should be granted an amount of Rs 9,000 crore to counter Covid-19 ."

The Tamil Nadu government has received Rs 512.64 crore from the centre in two instalments out of the Rs 712.64 crore package allocated as per the preparation of emergency response health system. Palaniswami has also requested to increase the package to Rs 3,000 crore. Regarding this, he said, "We have already used the State Disaster Response and Mitigation Fund, I request for an amount of Rs 1,000 crore from NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) to fight the epidemic. The issuance of subsidy of Rs 1,321 crore on the CMR (Custom Milled Rice) pending at this time will facilitate the purchase of paddy. "

He also instructed the Small Industries Development Bank (SIDBI) to provide at least Rs 1,000 crore to the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited from the special package of the Reserve Bank of India as a refinance facility.
