Taraji P. Henson, who studied musical theatre at Howard University, revealed she's been working on new songs, which she intends to release early next year in a recent cover storey interview with Women's Health. "I've been singing," the 51-year-old told the publication, adding that she may have been able to hit higher notes due to her dairy-free diet. "It came out of nowhere!"

"I've been working on an EP in secret," she told. "But it wasn't like I said, 'Taraji wants to sing,' and 20 writers showed up with their tunes." Rather than relying on others to write her songs, Henson has started penning her own lyrics and collaborating with high-end producers on feel-good, sensuous melodies. She told the outlet, "[It] makes you want to dance till the sun comes up." "I want people to know that nothing is ever too late," she continued. "If you take care of your health, you can live out your greatest ambitions."

Meanwhile, Henson told the media that singing opened up a whole new world of possibilities for her and that "it seemed like the sky opened up" for her. Henson, who has been open about her battles with depression and anxiety and presents Peace of Mind on Facebook Watch, said she likes doing out because it makes her feel wonderful.

"I knew I had to do all I could to feel better, or else the sadness would take over," she explained. "When I have those endorphins flowing, I'm like a completely new lady," she later said.
