Tata Play is expanding its international reach by partnering with Akash Digital TV in Bangladesh. This collaboration will allow Akash Digital TV to use Tata Play Binge's Cloud technology, which simplifies accessing content by consolidating shows and movies from various OTT channels into one app and subscription. This unified interface helps OTT aggregators focus on forming content partnerships and gaining subscribers.

Harit Nagpal, managing director and CEO of Tata Play, described the collaboration with Akash Digital TV as a pivotal moment. He emphasized that international content delivery companies can benefit from Tata Play's proven technology to create localized offerings at a low cost and within a short time frame.

Tata Play sees this as an opportunity to expand its platform internationally and generate revenue. By introducing the Tata Play Binge technology to a larger audience, the company aims to improve and develop the platform further, as more users help identify and fix bugs, ultimately enhancing its quality and performance.

The product is being introduced in Bangladesh as a companion app called Akash Go. This app will enable subscribers to watch content on their mobile devices, offering access to live TV channels and Video on Demand. It will also provide personalized recommendations based on viewing habits. Akash Go will combine local and global premium content and will be accessible to DTH subscribers of Akash Digital TV on both iOS and Android mobile phones.

In September last year, Tata Play, India’s leading content distribution platform, launched the Tata Play Binge PaaS for OTT aggregators worldwide. This platform provides end-to-end development and deployment opportunities. Tata Play initially collaborated with the Philippines' leading Pay-TV provider, Cignal TV. While the deal with Cignal was signed last year, the offering will be launched soon. Bangladesh has gone to market on July 8th, and Cignal will follow in a month or so, according to Nagpal.

Tata Play Binge is an OTT aggregation service that brings content from over 30 apps into one app. Tata's global expansion of the PaaS solution comes at a strategic moment as the OTT market is rapidly attracting more users, potentially boosting the company's revenue. If the aggregation model becomes widely adopted globally and more users recognize the benefits of a unified subscription model on a single platform, Tata Play could significantly expand its market presence.
