Tata Technologies offers to build an electric vehicle production plant in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: Tata Technologies offered to build up its ambitious electric vehicle (EV) production hub in Punjab on Wednesday, in a major step aimed at boosting the state's economic development on the one hand and creating new horizons of employment for the youth on the other.

A Tata Technologies delegation paid a visit to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at his official house.  During the discussions, the team, which included Warren Harris, Global CEO of Tata Technologies, Pawan Bhageria, and others, expressed strong interest in establishing this unit in the state with a present investment of Rs 250 crore and a future investment of Rs 1,600 crore.

The delegation stated that it would focus on MSME development in the EV market, with a focus on greener transportation and employment creation for Punjab's young. According to the visiting delegation, the corporation will also ensure the skill development of the state's youth.
The Chief Minister praised the initiative and pledged full support and collaboration to Tata Technologies on this endeavour.  He stated that the government is committed to accelerate the state's industrial growth and that no stone will be left unturned to achieve this laudable goal.

Mann stated that the government has a responsibility to reverse the trend of Punjabi young seeking greener pastures for their professions by ensuring that the finest employment prospects may be established here through such projects. The Chief Minister went on to say that the state government is already enticing more industrial tycoons from across the country to establish their businesses in the state.
