Tea industry to benefit from Budget: Tea Association of India

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman present Union budget 2021 yesterday. She announced many schemes for the welfare of the business and people.The Tea Association of India (TAI), the apex body of tea garden owners, is optimistic about the Budget proposals.

TAI said the emphasis on the ‘health and well being’ and ‘reinvigorating human capital’ that has been highlighted as the six pillars of the Budget-2021 proposals, would prove to be all-inclusive, and the industry would benefit from these. It also welcomed the provision of the special scheme for the welfare of the women workers and their children in Assam and West Bengal, amounting to Rs 1,000 crore for tea workers residing in the two states.
TAI secretary-general PK Bhattacharjee said, "This holds promise for the residential women workers and their children, which comprise more than 50 per cent of the labour force,” 

 Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday also termed the Union as pragmatic, people-friendly and development-oriented. The Assam CM thanked the Centre for the allocation of Rs 34,000 crore in the budget for the construction of more than 1,300 kms of national highways in the state in the next three years.He said that National Highway works with the proposed investment of Rs 19,000 crore are currently in progress in Assam and have already given a major boost to road connectivity in the state.
