Rajkot: Suryakumar Yadav played a blistering century inning in the third and final T20 International match being played between India and Sri Lanka on Saturday (December 7) in Rajkot, Gujarat. He completed his century in just 45 balls. Batting first, Suryakumar Yadav played a fiery inning of 112 runs in 51 balls with the help of 7 fours and 9 sixes. This is Surya's third international century.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Team India's start was not good and Ishan Kishan got out by scoring just 1 run. Rahul Tripathi returned to the pavilion after playing a quick cameo of 35 runs in 16 balls. After this, Shubman Gill along with Suryakumar Yadav took the innings forward and shared a 111-run partnership. In the end, captain Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda were also dismissed cheaply, but Akshar Patel supported Surya well by scoring a quick 21 runs in 9 balls. Akshar and Suryakumar Yadav played an unbeaten inning.

Karunaratne and Madhushanka, both Sri Lankan bowlers conceded more than 50 runs in their 4 overs. Surya has earlier scored a century in T20 against England and New Zealand. This is the second fastest century from India in this format. Rohit Sharma scored 100 runs in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017. At the same time, Surya is the first such batsman, who has scored 3 centuries in T20 even without opening the inning.

At the same time, Sri Lanka started chasing the target, but in the 5th, 6th, and 7th overs, three wickets fell one by one and the team faltered. The fourth wicket fell in the 10th over. Akshar Patel gave India the first breakthrough and in the end, Sri Lanka was defeated by 91 runs. As India posted a mammoth score of 228, Sri Lanka's defeat was scripted with their top-order failure as half the team was back in the 12th over. Suryakumar Yadav was also given the 'Man of the Match.'
