Pune: The Indian team once again performed brilliantly and defeated Sri Lanka by 78 runs in the third and final T20 match. With this victory, the Virat Brigade won the three-match series 2–0. This is the Indian team's sixth consecutive series win over Sri Lanka. Earlier, Sri Lanka started off chasing the target and the wicket of Lanka started falling from the very first over.
For Lanka, Angelo Mathews and Dhananjay De Silva played combative innings, but the entire team was reduced to just 123 runs. The bowlers of Team India bowled once again and kept the pressure on the visiting team by taking wickets continuously. The first match of the series was canceled due to rain in Guwahati. Whereas in the second match in Indore, Team India defeated the visiting team by seven wickets. This is Team India's sixth consecutive series win, which is a record.
Earlier, the Indian team set a target of 202 runs against Sri Lanka. After losing the toss, the Indian team batting after the 97-run partnership for the first wicket between Lokesh Rahul (54) and Shikhar Dhawan (52), Manish Pandey (31 not out) and Shardul Thakur (22 not out) at the last minute. Thanks to quick innings, India scored 201 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, in front of which Lankan team could score only 123 runs.
