NEW DELHI: Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, is likely to join the probe of the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the land-for-job scam on Saturday. She is likely to reach the CBI's headquarters by 11 a.m, as per source info.

Three summonses were issued to Tejaswi on March 4, 11, and 14. He previously declined to participate in the investigation due to his wife's health issues.

The investigation agency had questioned former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad over the situation earlier this month.

The CBI claims in its case that it was discovered during the inquiry that the accused conspired with the then general manager and CPO of the Central Railways to hire people in lieu of land, either in their names or in the names of close family members of the Lalu family.

Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, their two daughters, as well as 15 other people, including private citizens and unidentified public employees, had a complaint filed against them.

"Lalu Yadav had obtained financial advantages in the form of the transfer of landed property in the name of his family members in lieu of appointment of substitutes in Group 'D' posts in different Zones of Railways during his tenure as the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009," an official said.

A number of Patna residents either sold or gave away their land directly to Lalu's family or to a private business that was under the family's control.

"No public notice or advertisement was published for this employment of substitutes in the Zonal Railways, but the Patna citizens who were appointed were substitutes in several Zonal Railways located in Bombay, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hazipur.

According to the CBI, "In continuation of this modus operandi, the former minister and his family acquired approximately 1,05,292 square feet of land and immovable properties located in Patna through five sales deeds and two gift deeds, showing the payment made to seller in cash in most of the land transfers."
