Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to completely remove the lockdown imposed due to corona infection in the state. The state government has taken this decision in a cabinet meeting. Telangana has thus become the first state in the country to completely remove the lockdown.
Earlier, the state government had decided to extend the lockdown by June 19, though some concessions were also given to the people during this period. Telangana reported 1,417 new corona virus cases on Friday, taking the total number of infected people to 6,10,834, while the death toll from 12 more patients reached 3,546. The state health department issued a bulletin informing about the same.
According to the bulletin, greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recorded the highest number of 149 cases. This was followed by 104 new cases in Rangareddy and 93 in Khammam. According to the bulletin, 1,897 patients were infection-free in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people recovering from Covid-19 to 5,88,259. The number of patients undergoing treatment for corona virus in Telangana has gone up to 19,029. In Telangana, the mortality rate due to corona is 0.58 percent while the recovery rate is 96.30 percent.
