HYDERABAD: The Telangana Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council are gearing up for a fresh session, scheduled to commence on August 3, as officially announced by the state government on Friday, July 28.

This legislative session holds particular significance, considering that it might be the last one before the eagerly awaited Assembly elections, which are slated to take place towards the end of this year.

Expect a series of proposed amendments to the existing legislations during this session, a crucial point on the agenda for the government.

Notably, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has taken the decision to convene a state Cabinet meeting at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Secretariat on July 31.

Addressing around 40 to 50 issues, the state cabinet meeting will primarily focus on reviewing the current flood situation and the measures being implemented by the state government to combat the effects of torrential rain.

Of paramount importance will be the evaluation of the agricultural sector, taking into account the repercussions of heavy rains and the formulation of alternative policies to safeguard the interests of farmers.

Furthermore, the meeting will tackle the extensive damage caused to roads by the overflowing of canals and rivulets, and the subsequent impact on road transportation.

The cabinet will adopt a resolute stance to swiftly restore the damaged road network, and delve into matters concerning the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

Among the myriad topics to be discussed, the enhancement of TSRTC employees' salaries will be accorded due attention, and decisions will be taken accordingly.
