Hyderabad: T. Harish Rao, Telangana's Health and Finance Minister, announced on Saturday that the state will invest Rs 10,000 crore to strengthen public health services. He stated that the state government's goal was to offer citizens with the best healthcare services available, on par with the corporate sector.

The Minister dedicated a 100-bed intensive care centre at Hyderabad's Niloufer Hospital for Children, which is run by the government. Harish Rao attended this programme for the first time since taking over the medical and health portfolio three days ago. Niloufer Hospital will receive another 800 beds at a cost of Rs 33 crore, according to Harish Rao. He stated that doctors and other personnel would be hired as quickly as possible.

He praised the Hyderabad Software Entrepreneurs' Association (HYSEA) for donating Rs 18 crore to the state's government-run hospitals as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao aims to build four medical towers in four directions in Hyderabad to provide the best healthcare services to the underprivileged, according to the Minister.

According to Harish Rao, the government is also aiming toward having a medical college in each district. He claims that there were just five government medical colleges when Telangana was created, but that number has now risen to 21. From next year, nine more government hospitals will be operational.
