Telangana woman kidnapped by mob rescued, 16 arrested

Hyderabad: A woman, who was abducted near Hyderabad, was rescued hours after the incident was surfaced on Friday, December 9. 

Rachakonda police mentioned that they rescued the 24-year-old woman, and detained 16 persons in connection with the case. A massive mob forcefully entered the woman’s house, located under the Adibatla police station limits, and abducted her. The woman is a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduate and worked as a house surgeon.

On Friday night, Speaking to the media  Rachakonda Additional Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu said: "We have to rebuild the entire episode and we need to speak to several of the accused and eye witnesses. A feeling of shock has overtaken the woman. More information might interfere with the ongoing investigation, thus we are unable to share it at this time. The accused have been charged under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking), 147 (rioting), 504 (intentionally provocating a person to disturb public peace), and other pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, said Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat.

The woman's relatives said that a sizable crowd of individuals broke into their home, attacked her parents, and forcibly dragged her outside. The woman's family claimed that Naveen Kumar was responsible for organising the mob and abducting her. He is accused of pressuring the woman to be married. It is not yet known if Naveen was one of the 16 people the police detained. 

The woman's mother claimed that they had previously reported the matter to the police for allegedly harassing them and that she had rejected his proposal of marriage.
