Hyderabad: The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, promising a slew of welfare measures and increased financial assistance to various sections of the population.
K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister and BRS chief, presented the manifesto, outlining significant pledges that encompass social security pensions, support for farmers through the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme, and the provision of LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate.
One of the prominent promises in the manifesto is a substantial increase in the social security pension, currently at ₹2,016 per month, which will gradually rise to ₹5,000 per month over the next five years. In the first year after returning to power, the pension will be raised to ₹3,016 and incrementally increased to ₹5,000 over the subsequent four years.
For individuals with disabilities (Divyang), the pension will also see a substantial increase, reaching ₹6,016 in the coming five years, up from the current ₹4,016.
Under the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers at ₹10,000 per annum per acre, the payments will be incrementally raised to ₹16,000 per annum over the next five years.
The manifesto includes an initiative to provide LPG cylinders at the price of ₹400 each to eligible beneficiaries, with the state government covering the remaining cost.
In addition to these measures, the BRS pledges to offer ₹15 lakh health insurance coverage to all eligible beneficiaries under the 'Arogya Sri' health scheme, an increase from the present ₹5 lakh.
K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed confidence that his party would return to power and assured that the promises outlined in the manifesto would be implemented within six to seven months of forming the government.
Notably, Rao emphasized that the BRS had successfully implemented 90% of the welfare schemes, even if they were not initially mentioned in the previous election's manifesto.
The manifesto also lays out plans to convert all residential junior colleges into residential degree colleges. KCR highlighted the state's significant progress under the BRS government, including becoming the leader in per capita income and power consumption. He assured that the administration would maintain its policies concerning power and agriculture and provide stimulus if necessary.
