Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a jab at Congress state chief Kamal Nath, dubbing him 'rotela mukhyamatri' during a rally in Datia district on Sunday. According to Chouhan, when Kamal Nath assumed office in 2018, he frequently lamented the state's lack of funds, blaming Chouhan for depleting the coffers and leaving him with insufficient resources for state projects.

Addressing the state's law and order situation, Chouhan recounted how he vowed to tackle crime head-on upon becoming Chief Minister. He passionately declared, 'When I became the CM, there were incidents of shootings, kidnappings, and mass killings. Dacoits terrorized the population... After assuming office, I convened a meeting with police officers in Gwalior and issued a clear ultimatum: it's either me or the criminals who will dominate Madhya Pradesh.' Chouhan heaped praise on Datia MLA and State Home Minister Narottam Mishra, commending his efforts to advance the region. He revealed that Mishra consistently pushed for the establishment of additional colleges and hospitals in Datia during cabinet meetings.

In a stinging critique of the Congress, Chouhan pointed to the destruction and mismanagement that often accompanied the party's rule. He cited Kamal Nath's tenure when Chhindwara was lost to the opposition but was later regained. In a rhetorical flourish, Chouhan questioned whether it was fitting to have a chief minister who frequently appeared despondent, asking, 'Does it look good to have a CM who always cries?' Madhya Pradesh is preparing for its 230-seat assembly elections on November 17, with the vote count scheduled for December 3.
