South Superstar Krishna died on Tuesday in Hyderabad, a day after he was hospitalized. He died at the age of 79 and breathed his last at around 4 am. Krishna was also the father of popular actor Mahesha Babu. He was in depression after his wife Indra Devi death in September. To pay tribute to the veteran actress Telugu film remain closed tomorrow.

PRO Vamsi Shekar tweeted, “Telugu film industry will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday) as a mark of respect to Superstar #KrishnaGaru(sic)."

Mahesh Babu also sharing a statement wrote, “It is with the deepest grief that we inform you of the passing of our dearest Krishna garu. He was a superstar in so many ways beyond the movie screen... guided by love, humility and compassion. He will live on through his work, through us, and the many lives he influenced. He loved us more than anything and we will miss him more with each passing day... but as they say, goodbyes aren't forever. Until we meet again... - THE GHATTAMANENI FAMILY."

Superstar, Krishna was married to Indira Devi and later to Vijaya Nirmala. While Vijaya Nirmala passed away in 2019, Indira died in September 2022. He is father to five children; Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula and Priyadarshini. Ramesh Babu passed away in January 2022. On the career front he has featured in various big south films like Pandanti Kapuram, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1972. Some of his best films include Alluri Seetharama Raju, Simhasanam, Gudachari 116, James Bond 777, Mugguru Kodukulu and Anna Thammudu, among others.
