Kolkata: At least 3 people have lost their lives while dozens have been injured in a lorry-trailer collision at Maynaguri in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district. The accident took place on Tuesday (February 21) morning in Maynaguri. Around 20 laborers were going towards Domohani in a trailer, according to local sources, a trailer and a lorry collided head-on in the Ulladaburi area. 20 laborers fell from the trailer due to the collision. There was a hue and cry on the spot due to this incident.

Local people claim that 3 people died on the spot. The rest of the laborers got injured. They have been admitted to the hospital. Police and local people have reached the spot and rescue and relief operations are underway. The injured have been taken to the hospital. According to reports, these laborers work in the railways. On Tuesday, they were going to Domohani in connection with work. Meanwhile, the trailer collided with a 10-wheeler truck coming from the front. The injured laborers were taken out by the local people. First, they were admitted to Maynaguri Hospital. The workers were later shifted to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital. The condition of the injured 5 laborers is said to be critical. At the same time, efforts are on to identify the dead laborers.

According to the police, the accident may have happened due to fog in the morning. Police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident. Local people say that they had just woken up in the morning when there was a loud crashing sound. When they reached the spot, there was a hue and cry of the people. People were lying here and there in injured condition. The local people started the rescue operation and informed the police.
