Terror Funding Case: Today Pakistan court will give verdict on terrorist Hafiz Saeed

ISLAMABAD: The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) will give its verdict today in two cases related to terror funding against Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa and mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. These cases have been filed by the Lahore and Gujranwala branches of the Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD). During the hearing of both the cases, the court has recorded the statements of 23 witnesses.

Earlier, Jamaat-ud Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed was arrested by the CTD in July last year. Prior to his arrest, 23 FIRs were lodged against JUD leaders in July 2019 at the police station Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, and Sargodha. These include Abdul Rahman Makki, another main terrorist of Saeed and JUD.

The CTD has said that JUD is promoting terrorism with huge sums collected through non-profit organizations and trusts. During the hearing of these cases, Hafiz Saeed's dirty game was seen on many occasions. Once, Hafiz Saeed was produced in the court, but another accused in the case could not present the officer to the owner Zafar, due to which the hearing was adjourned. After this, the hearing of this case was also delayed due to the strike of the lawyers.
