Srinagar: Grenade attacks on security forces are on the rise in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces were conducting a search operation in Kutpora of Shopian early in the morning. During this time, the terrorists attacked the search party with a grenade. No casualties have been reported in the attack so far. At the same time, the police of Kashmir Zone have informed that soon after the attack, the security forces retaliated, although the terrorists escaped taking advantage of the darkness.
At the same time, during the search operation, the police and security forces busted a hideout of the terrorists. They have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from a house. Security forces claimed that a militant hideout has been unearthed in the house of Adil Wani, an active militant in Kutpora. His house was being used for anti-national activities. Adil Wani's name had cropped up in the attack on two brothers, a Kashmiri Pandit working in an apple orchard in South Kashmir's Shopian yesterday. Sunil Kumar died in the attack, while his brother Pintu is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The terrorists had carried out two grenade attacks at different places. Two persons, including a policeman, were injured in the attack. The first attack took place in the Gopalpora Chadoora area of Budgam in which a civilian, Karan Kumar Singh, was injured. Falcon squad TRF cadre attacked Pandit Colony in Gopalpora. The terrorists had carried out the second attack on the police control room. Police personnel was injured in the grenade attack.
