Islamabad: Pakistan's anti-terror court has sentenced Yahya Mujahid, the spokesperson of Mumbai attack mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) leader Hafiz Saeed, to 15 years in jail for the terror funding case. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sentenced Mujahid to 32 years in prison last month in two cases of terror funding.

In addition to the Mujahid, ATC Lahore on Wednesday sentenced JUD leader Zafar Iqbal to 15 years and JUD chief Hafiz Saeed's relative Professor Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki for six months. Earlier, ATC Lahore had sentenced Iqbal to 26 years in prison in three such cases. Judge Ijaz Ahmad Batar of the Anti-Terrorism Court has sentenced under various provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. The three convicts were present in the court when the judge pronounced the sentence.

The Punjab Police's Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD) had registered 41 FIRs in various cases against JUD leaders including Saeed in various cases. The lower court has sentenced 25 of these cases. Under the sections of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, Saeed has been sentenced to 21 years in four cases. The JuD led by Saeed is a mask organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba. In the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, 166 people lost their lives and Lashkar-e-Taiba was blamed for this.
