Tesla has issued a recall for 475,000 of its electric vehicles to investigate a possible issue with the rear view camera and trunk that, in the worst-case scenario, might result in an accident. Tesla Model 3 and Model S electric vehicles have been recalled.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States acknowledged the Tesla recall order, which was extensively reported in the country's media. Model 3 and Model S electric vehicles built between 2014 and 2021 are included in the recall. The potential issue with potentially impacted Model 3 EVs is the risk of the back camera being destroyed when the rear hatchback is opened and closed. It's also possible that some of these vehicles have a malfunctioning lock that causes the front hatchback to open without notice. This might be exceedingly dangerous since it could obscure the driver's view while the car is moving.

Tesla has reportedly stated that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries that may havge taken plaece due to these issues. And while the recall orders have been issued, it is reported that the move wasn't good enough to prevent Tesla shares from falling by as much as eight per cent.

Tesla is the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, with a significant lead over its competitors. However, while demand has been steadily increasing, there have been quality control problems in several of the company's areas. This includes China, which has the world's largest electric vehicle market. While CEO Elon Musk has often said that strong quality control methods are in place, others think that quality is being sacrificed in the rush to increase production and supplies. In any case, analysts believe Tesla will widen its advantage over competitors by 2022, especially now that its big Texas factory is slated to begin operations.
