Sri Lankan cricketer Tharanga Paranavitana has said goodbye to international cricket on Tuesday. He announced his retirement from all three formats together and made a formal announcement in this case. Paranavitana has played his debut match against Pakistan in Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Karachi Test. He scored both his Test centuries against India (Sri Lanka vs India). In 2010, in the Gaul and then Colombo Test, he was played the innings of 111 and 100 runs.

Looking at Paranavitana's career, he has played 32 Test matches for Sri Lanka and in the meantime he has scored 2 centuries and 11 fifties, scoring 1792 runs at an average of 32.58. Paranavitana played his last Test match in 2012 and after which he could never return to the team. He played a total of 222 first-class matches and meanwhile he has scored a total of 14940 runs at an average of 40 centuries and 45.82. Paranavitana had scored 72 and 49 runs in the third Test of his career against Pakistan in Gaul.

Wounded during Lahore terror attack: Paranavitana visited Pak with Sri Lankan team in 2009. In the midst of the 2009 Test series, there was a terrorist attack on a Sri Lankan bus at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In which many cricketers were injured. Tharanga Paranavitana was also present among the injured Sri Lankan cricketers. Paranavitana returned to the field in July 2009, after being injured in this March attack.
