Today is the birthday of Tollywood actress 'Meena,' who works in the South Indian film business. Meena made her debut as a child artist in the 1982 Tamil film Nenjangal and has since starred in films produced by several regional industries. Meena has been a South Indian celebrity for over three decades, collaborating with many famous performers.

She has appeared in films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. She is one of the few South Indian actresses who has had success in all of the regional languages. In the 1990s, she was a major actress in Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu movies. She has established herself as a brilliant actor in the South Indian cinema industry throughout the years. Meena is a playback singer, TV judge, and sometimes dubbing artist in addition to her acting career. [4] She has received two Filmfare South Awards, four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, two Nandi Awards for Best Actress, and five Cinema Express Awards. In 1998 the government of Tamil Nadu honoured her with the Kalaimamani Award for her contribution to arts and cinema.

Meena was born and raised in Tamil Nadu's Chennai (formerly Madras). Her mother is from Kerela's Kannur district, while her father is from Andhra. Meena finished her eighth grade at Vidyodhaya School in Chennai. Her early foray into the film industry led her to drop out of school before graduating. She did, however, complete her tenth grade with private tutoring and got a Master's in History from Madras University via the open university system in 2006. Meena is a Bharathanatyam dancer who speaks six languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English.

Meena has worked as a playback vocalist on several albums with actor Manoj. Meena has created songs, performed, and released two pop albums, 16 Vayathinile and Kadhalism, which she began recording with actor Vikram in 2001. Meena was a playback vocalist in D. Imman's soundtrack for the film Sena, and her song "indru intha kalayil en nenjil echo aachu" was a great smash.
