Pune: A shocking incident is coming out from Maharashtra's Pune where Shivanya was born in a Pune hospital in just 24 weeks (6 months). At birth, she weighed only 400 grams. Doctors say that the chances of survival in such a situation are only 0.5 percent, but miraculously the girl's health improved and she is with her parents today. Presently she weighs 4.5 kg and her parent told that she is eating well like other children. But how was all this possible?

That is the story of Baby Shivanya. Who took birth in a hospital in Pune. Doctors claim that this is the smallest and lightest newborn baby in India. Born in just 24 weeks (six months), Shivanya's weight was 400 grams, which means lighter than a packet of milk. But 7 months after her birth, she is a healthy baby girl living happily with her parents at their home in Wakad.

Her father and IT professional say that she is now like any other healthy newborn baby. Her weight is 4.5 kg and she eats well. Experts say that Shivanya's good health is due to the efforts of her doctors and advanced newborn care in India. Shivanya, born on 21 May 2022, was discharged on 23 August after 94 days from intensive care. When she was sent home, she weighed 2,130 grams. Earlier in Ahmedabad, a baby with a birth weight of 492 grams survived at 22 weeks of pregnancy. Apart from this, a baby was born in Hyderabad in the 25th week of pregnancy, whose weight was only 375 grams. Dr. Sachin Shah, Chief Neonatologist, Surya Mother and Child Hospital said, But Shivanya is the youngest. We add both gestational age and birth weight. No case of such extreme premature survival has been reported in India.
