According to a statement issued on Thursday by Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022. At 96, Scotland's Balmoral Castle witnessed the death of Britain's longest-reigning monarch. Celebrities and world leaders delivered the monarch's heartfelt tributes in honour of his or her historic 70-year reign. The Crown, a hit Netflix series that centres on the Royal family, also has a statement out in honour of the Queen.

Writer of The Crown, Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama, Peter Morgan, spoke to Deadline as he reacted to the tragic news of the demise of the Queen and said that the series is “a love letter to her”. In an email message, Morgan also mentioned that the portal that he expects production on Season 6 of The Crown "will stop filming out of respect" for a period of time.

Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth season of the hit television series The Crown, which has already produced four seasons and starred Claire Foy and Olivia Colman as the monarch. Foy played Princess Elizabeth at the start of the series before changing her name and taking the throne to become Queen Elizabeth.

Several members of the Royal family have also addressed their thoughts about the said Netflix show. Previously, during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Prince Harry spoke about the same and said, "They [The Crown] don't pretend to be news. It's fiction. But it's loosely based on the truth. I'm way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself."
