66 passengers including a crew member of the Cordelia cruise ship from Mumbai to Goa have been infected with corona. This is the same cruise ship in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was detained in a drugs case in October 2021.
According to media reports, a member of the Cordelia cruise crew was first found to be infected with corona, which left Mumbai for Goa with more than 2,000 people on board. The crew member has been isolated onboard the ship itself. After which RT-PCR tests have been conducted on other crew members and passengers present in the ship. Out of these, 66 people have reported positive. The ship has been stopped at present near Mormugao Port Cruise Terminal, Vasco. No one has been allowed to board and land on board the ship so far.
Giving more details in the case, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that the government is going to decide whether to allow passengers to get off the ship. At the same time, he has said that 4 cases of omicron have been confirmed in the State. On Sunday (January 2, 2021), the Minister had told media persons that the ship's operator was asked to conduct a covid test on all the passengers. He had said that if they are found positive from covid, they are not going to be allowed to land.
Reports say that Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha along with Aryan Khan were detained in October last year in connection with a drug case in a cruise ship. A case under sections of the NDPS Act was registered against them for possession, consumption, purchase and sale and conspiracy of banned drugs. Aryan has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 28, 2021, in the case.
