Bhopal: Indian Air Force Group Captain Varun Singh, who was badly injured in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, passed away on Wednesday. Group Captain Varun Singh struggled with life and death for 8 days even after being badly injured in the helicopter crash. However, even after a lot of effort, the doctors could not save him and group captain Varun Singh passed away. After the death of the Indian Air Force, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced an assistance of Rs 1 crore to his family.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the announcement on Thursday. Talking to the media, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, 'I pay homage to Group Captain Varun Singh. His last rites will be performed with full state and military honours.' CM Chauhan further said, 'Varun's father is also extremely brave. The whole family is dedicated to the country. We stand by them in this hour of grief.'

Briefing about naming the institute in the name of Group Captain Varun Singh and making a statue in his memory, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said a decision will be taken only after discussing it with his family. A decision on giving a government job to a family member will also be taken after talks with the family members.
