Ranchi: A tribal girl was gang-raped by 8-10 boys near Tekrahatu in the Chaibasa Mofussil police station area of Jharkhand. The incident took place near the aerodrome. The victim is a software engineer and is working from home in Chaibasa. The incident is said to have taken place around 6 pm on Thursday.
According to the news received, the victim is from the village of Jhinkpani police station. She along with a friend from Chaibasa had gone to Takerahatu airstrip on Thursday evening to roam around on a scooty. There, 8-10 boys threatened his friend and drove him away. The girl was then taken to deserted bushes and gang-raped. When the police received the news at night, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dilip Khalko and Mofussil police station in-charge Pawan Pathak reached the spot with the force. Thereafter, based on the information received, they started looking for the culprits.
On the basis of suspicion, in this case, the police picked up some boys from the nearby village and took them to the police station. Everyone is being questioned here. The victim girl has been kept under police surveillance at Sadar hospital. She is not being allowed to talk to anyone. Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar has said that some boys have been detained on the basis of suspicion, and they are being questioned. A case has been registered against 10 unidentified persons. At the same time, the statement of 164 has also been recorded in the court.
