Bilaspur: The Bilaspur High Court has given an important decision. The High Court, while accepting the divorce petition of a man, said that having a physical relationship between husband and wife is an important part of a healthy married life. The court has termed the treatment of husband and wife who do not have a physical relationship after marriage, tantamount to cruelty. Giving it special importance, the Bilaspur High Court has accepted a divorce petition. At the same time, the court said that having a physical relationship between husband and wife is an important part of a healthy married life. The refusal of any physical relationship by any of the husband or wife after marriage comes under the category of cruelty.

Actually, a person living in Bilaspur was married on 25 November 2007 with a woman living in Bemetara district. The man appealed for his divorce stating that his wife had gone to her father's house only a few days after the marriage and did not return. But his wife refused to come back saying that her husband was not handsome. Apart from this, the person has told in his divorce application that the wife used to behave cruelly within a few days of marriage. She was constantly harassing her mentally by saying that she is not beautiful.

The victim told that after the death of the father, the wife went to the maternal home and remained there continuously for about 4 years. Due to this, the husband was trying to contact by phone. On asking the wife to come back, the wife's reply came that the husband was asked to leave Bilaspur and settle in Bemetara. Thereafter, the husband appealed for divorce in the Family Court, but the Family Court rejected the petition, so the husband appealed to the High Court. This has been accepted by the Bilaspur High Court. While making a special comment about this matter, he said that not having a physical relationship between husband and wife comes under the category of cruel behavior.
