Variety reports that the heated trial involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, which lasted six weeks, will be turned into a TV show. Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial is the name of the new film, which will make its premiere only on the Tubi streaming platform. Mark Hapka portrays Johnny Depp in the movie, and Megan Davis plays Amber Heard, the actor's ex-wife.
According to reports, the movie's September 30 debut will also feature Melissa Marty from Station 19 in the part of Camille Vasquez, Depp's attorney, and Mary Carrig from Law & Order: True Crime in that of Elaine Bredehoft, Heard's attorney. As it dramatises the two-month defamation trial that ended on June 1, the movie will follow Depp and Heard's turbulent relationship both inside and outside of court. In the trial's ruling, the jury determined that Heard was responsible for the defamation in her op-ed from December 2018. Depp was found responsible by the jury for a defamatory comment made regarding Heard by his attorney.
Following the trial's end, Johnny Depp has been working hard to resume his Hollywood career, which was put on hold when his ex-wife accused him of using domestic violence. After almost 25 years, the actor, who has already collaborated on a music CD with Jeff Beck, is preparing to direct a movie that Al Pacino will produce.
Following Depp’s win at the trial, Amber Heard released a statement which read, "I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my ex-husband. I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women."
