Lucknow: In Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, some people allegedly beat a 24-year-old Dalit youth with sticks for drinking water from a public tap. Due to this he lost his life on the spot. Police gave this information on Tuesday. Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Kishore Srivastava has said that in the complaint given to the Ushait police station, the deceased's father Jagdish has alleged that on Monday night, his son Kamlesh (24) was forced to drink water from the tap by Suraj Rathod and his associates. But he was beaten with a stick.
 
Quoting the complaint, he said that Kamlesh was taken to the hospital where he died during treatment on Tuesday. Additional Superintendent of Police has said that Suraj Rathod, named in this incident, has been detained. Srivastava said that Kamlesh's body has been sent for post-mortem and a detailed investigation has been ordered in the case and it is going to be investigated by the jurisdictional officer of Ujhani. 
 
There was an altercation over water: Police officer Ajay Kumar Singh has informed that Suraj is the neighbor of the victim Kamlesh. According to the police, on Monday, Kamlesh's daughter had gone to the public tap of the village to get water. Suraj, who was present there to collect water, allegedly scolded the girl. After which Kamlesh also reached there and had an argument with Suraj. The matter was resolved after the intervention of some local residents. 
 
Attacked with sticks: However, later when Kamlesh was returning from the fields, the three accused attacked him with sticks, due to which he suffered several injuries. Police have said about this that after which the accused ran away. Amit Kishore Srivastava said that some local residents and family members of Kamlesh reached the spot and took him to the hospital. Where he died. On Tuesday, based on the complaint of Kamlesh's family, an FIR was registered against three people in the police station. Police said that the search is on for the other two accused.
