In his letter, MP Josh Harder has asked Foreign Minister Pompeo to raise the issue of countertaxing almonds during his visit to India during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Harder MP represents the Central Valley area of California. This area is among the largest producers of almonds in the U.S.

Harder said, "Our top diplomats are going to meet with India's PM Modi. His task is to take American interests forward. It also includes central velley requirements. "I sincerely hope that he will take this matter seriously as these charges can be a big hassle for our local economy," Hardar said. "
