Tel Aviv: On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, more than 400 people performed various yogasanas at the famous Hatchana complex here. India's Ambassador to Israel Pawan Kapoor, meanwhile, urged the government to make it an annual event. People from all walks of life participated in this march.

Kapoor told people, "I'm always surprised to see how much yoga is prevalent in Israel. A lot of yoga teachers are here. There is a different kind of yoga done and taught here. From before going to school to yoga at the office site..." The event was organized by the Indian Embassy in association with the Municipality and the Ministry of Sports and Culture. International Yoga Day 2015 is celebrated every year on June 21.

Kapoor has said, "You are all aware of the benefits of yoga to the body, mind and mind. I think the kind of popularity that is gaining to yoga here, the Ministry of Culture and the municipality can think of making it an annual event...."  Kapoor also spoke about the opening of the Indian Cultural Centre here where people will be able to do yoga. This was announced during PM Narendra Modi's visit to Israel in July 2017.
