Mumbai: Vimalraj Nadar, a 26-year-old kabaddi player from Dharavi in Mumbai, Maharashtra, was killed on Friday evening. The postmortem report revealed that sharp-edged weapons were used in addition to the cricket stumps in the murder. Vimalraj was a technician by profession. Police have so far arrested three persons in the case.
It is being said that after the murder of Vimalraj, the local people took to the streets and started demanding justice. In large figures, people also came together and gheraoed the police station. Due to this, people also met the police officials to give justice to Vimalraj's family. After seeing the crowd of locals, the police barely pacified them and assured them that strict action would be taken against the culprits. At present, the matter is under investigation.
On the other hand, police say that the reason for the murder could be an old rivalry. Police said there was already a quarrel between the deceased Vimalraj and the criminals. At around 3.30 pm on Friday night, three-four men gathered outside Vimalraj's house over an old rivalry and then assaulted and killed him. Police said the spot was searched after the incident was reported. CCTV footage was also scanned. CCTV footage showed three men fleeing after executing the incident. At present, three criminals have been arrested in the case. BJP leader Tamil Selvan said the victim has two children and all possible help will be provided to her family by the Kabaddi Association and other agencies.
