Tadepalli: Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Tourism Minister Muttamsetty Srinivasa Rao said that the tourism department had suffered a lot of revenue loss during the COVID crisis, where only Rs 60 crore was generated against the normal income of around Rs 120 crore. revenue was received. He said that the government has proposed to set up five and seven star hotels in 13 districts to promote tourism and hospitality sector through public private partnership.

In this regard, the Oberoi Group has come forward to invest in setting up 5-star and 7-star hotels in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. In addition, the minister said that the tourism department is coming up with a dedicated mobile application (app) for the convenience of the public to provide information related to tourist places, hotels and special packages. The app will be launched in Dussehra. Proposals to bring in seaplanes are still on to boost the state's tourist attractions and said that the focus was on preparing special tourism packages to attract local tourists. He later announced that the 27th of this month would be celebrated as World Tourism Day. He also said that there are plans to improve the facilities in the four proposed tourist areas in the state.

 Regarding sports, Minister Srinivas said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is giving top priority to sports, where a new sports policy will soon be introduced by the state government to improve sports infrastructure, encourage and train sportspersons in rural areas.
