New Delhi: An affordable version of TVS Motor Company's well-liked 125cc offering, the Raider 125, has been released. The cost of the new single-seat trim in India is Rs. 93,719 (ex-showroom).

The updated design aims to unseat the Bajaj Pulsar 125, the current leader in the 125cc commuter class, and take its crown. Does the former have enough force to overcome the seasoned competitor? Let's investigate.

The two-wheeler segment of the Indian automotive industry has been dominated by commuter-style motorcycles. These bikes' simplicity and laid-back riding ergonomics appeal to a wide range of audiences.

With the Pulsar 125, Bajaj Auto has been dominating the 125cc commuter market in recent years. However, the Raider 125 from TVS Motor poses stiff competition for the champion right now.

With sporty graphics, a muscular fuel tank with extensions, a single-piece seat, a pillion grab rail, a side-mounted exhaust, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and 17-inch alloy wheels, the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 is equipped for performance.

With a sculpted fuel tank, an all-LED lighting system, a digital instrument cluster, and designer alloy wheels, the TVS Raider 125 now comes in a single-seat version as well.

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 measures 2,055 mm long, 755 mm wide, and 1,060 mm tall. It weighs 140 kg. The TVS Raider 125 measures 2,070mm in length, 785mm in width, and 1,028mm in height, and it weighs 123kg.

Regarding rider safety, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 and TVS Raider 125 single-seat both have a Combined Braking System (CBS), as well as disc and drum brakes on the front and rear wheels, respectively.

Telescoping front forks are standard on both bikes. Unlike the latter, which has twin shock absorbers on the back, the former only has one shock.

A 124.4cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine powers the Bajaj Pulsar 125, producing a maximum of 11.6 horsepower and a maximum torque of 10.8 Nm.

A 124.8cc, air-and-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine powers the TVS Raider 125, producing a maximum of 15.3 horsepower and a maximum torque of 11.2 Nm. On both motorcycles, a 5-speed gearbox handles transmission duties.

The 2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 can be purchased in India for as little as Rs. 80,154, while the TVS Raider 125 single-seat model costs Rs. 93,719 (all prices, ex-showroom). In our view, the Pulsar 125 makes more sense due to its more appealing exterior and capable engine at a comparably lower cost than the Raider 125.
