New Delhi: The apex court today heard the oxygen crisis in the national capital. The court had bluntly told the Central government that it would have to arrange for 700 metric tonnes of oxygen per day to Delhi. The central government's arguments in the Supreme Court were that Delhi does not require 700 metric tonnes of oxygen daily.
Justice DY Chandrachud told Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta that when you made a formula that not everyone needs oxygen, not everyone needs ICU or ventilator, there are many people who have been asked to stay at home and have an isolate at home, what we have to do is that we look at it all over India We need to look at the oxygen audit, we need to. The court said that it is not just about allocating oxygen to one state, proper oxygen audit is required, there should also be a proper framework for distribution, so I asked other states to be looked into. Justice DY Chandrachud said, "Can we prepare a team of doctors who treat with technology, there is no manpower to handle the second wave, we will not have manpower even for the third wave, can we use fresh graduate doctors and nurses in it?"
