New Delhi: The Zeal EX electric scooter has been unveiled in India by local EV maker Ampere Electric, with a starting price of Rs. 69,900 (ex-showroom) in some states.

With its 2.3kWh battery pack, the scooter boasts of an aggressive design and promises a range of up to 120km on a single charge. Let's examine its main competitors on our soil.

Over the past few years, the market for entry-level electric scooters has grown rapidly. With its capable Zeal EX model, Ampere Electric is the latest entrant in the fiercely competitive market.

The updated model now features a bigger battery and sharper body panels unlike its previous iteration. To compete with well-known rivals, the EV will face a significant challenge.

Let's start by discussing the Ampere seal. It gets a wide handlebar, angular mirrors, step-up seat, single-piece grab rail, 12-inch steel wheels and an attractive LED taillamp.

It features an edgy design aesthetic. It gets dual rear shock absorbers, telescoping front forks and drum brakes. A 1.8kW hub-mounted motor and a 2.3kWh battery power the scooter.

The Hope Leo features alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, an LED taillight, an apron-mounted headlight, a flat footboard, a wide handlebar, single-piece seat and a single-piece seat.

There is a front disc brake, telescoping front forks and two rear shock absorbers included with the scooter. It is powered by a 2.5kW hub-mounted PMSM electric motor which is connected to a 2.4kWh battery pack with IP67 rating.


The Ola S1 Air features single-piece seats, 12.0-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, a smiley-shaped LED headlight and an LED taillight.

The EV gets disc brakes, combined braking system, mono-shock rear unit and single sided front fork (CBS). It is supported by a 2kWh, 3kWh, or 4kWh battery pack along with a 4.5kW electric motor.

With 12-inch alloy wheels, a 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster with SmartXonnect system, squared-out mirrors, a wide handlebar, a flat seat, a sleek LED taillight, and an apron-mounted LED headlamp, the TVS iQube features a host of Has desirable features.

It gets dual rear shock absorbers, front disc brake and telescoping front forks. An IP67-rated 3.04kWh battery pack and a 4.4kW hub-mounted electric motor power the scooter.

The Okaya Fast F3 features 12-inch steel wheels, a fully digital instrument cluster, a flat footboard, tapered body panels, an LED taillamp and an apron-mounted front LED headlamp with integrated DRLs.

Drum brakes, telescoping front forks and a rear monoshock are included with the scooter. It is powered by a 3.53kWh swappable dual battery setup and a 2.5kW electric motor.
