New Delhi: US Defence Secretary Lloyd J Austin is coming to India on Sunday (June 4) on his official visit. Lloyd J. Austin is on a four-nation tour. This is Lloyd J Austin's second visit to India after taking over as defence secretary in January 2021. The main objective of this visit is to further strengthen the defense partnership between India and the US.  

During his visit to India, the US Defense Secretary will meet his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh. Secretary Austin's visit to New Delhi will primarily focus on advancing the new India-US Defence Innovation and Industrial Cooperation initiative and continuing efforts to expand operational cooperation between the US and Indian militaries.

"After Singapore, Secretary Austin will travel to New Delhi to meet with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other leaders," the Pentagon said in a readout of the visit. The United States and India will continue to modernize their defense partnership. The visit provides an opportunity to accelerate new defence innovation and industrial cooperation initiatives and advance ongoing efforts to expand operational cooperation between the US and Indian militaries.
