Kontawet defeated Inga Svetek of Poland 6-7 (4) 7-5 7-5. He did this match in his name in 2 hours and 42 minutes. With this victory, she also became the first woman player of her country to reach the quarterfinals. Muguruza defeated Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands in straight sets. He won this match 6-3 6-3. Muguruza passed the quarterfinals after 3 years. She was last defeated in the same round in 2017. Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep defeated 16th seed Belgium's Mertens. Hallep defeated the Mertens 6-4, 6-4. They will face Kontavet in the quarter-finals. Hallep lost the final to Caroline Wozniacki in 2018.

With this win, she moved from third to second place in the ranking. Apart from Hallep, Ashley Barty of Australia is not out of the top seed players. Earlier, second seed Carolina Pliskova, defending champion and third seed Naomi Osaka of Japan have also been ruled out. On the other hand, Dominic Thiem defeated France's Jaelle Monfils 6–2, 6–4, 6–4 in the Men's Singles. After 18 years, an Austrian player has been successful in reaching the quarterfinals. Spain's Rafael fighter plane Nadal will take on Nick Kirios of Australia in the pre-quarterfinal today. At the same time, Alexander Zverev of Germany will face Adre Rublev of Russia.
