Two Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff have been suspended in connection with the incident. A departmental inquiry has been set up on the accused, in which an FIR will also be registered if found guilty. The incident was revealed on January 24, 2023. The case is being called a scrap scam.

According to reports, the case is of the Samastipur railway division. The Lohat sugar mill was closed here for a long time. A railway line was laid for freight traffic in this mill. This line was used to connect the mill to Pandaul railway station. However, this rail line was also closed. After the closure of the mill, the goods present here were to be auctioned as scrap by taking out the tender. There was also a railway line in this scrap. Officials received information that with the connivance of some people of the department, the nearly 2 km long rail line has been sold without tendering. At the same time, some media reports have said that the length of the stolen tracks is half a km.

In the initial investigation, the name of Srinivas, in-charge of the Jhanjharpur outpost, besides Madhubani's Jamadar Mukesh Kumar Singh, came to light. Both of them are accused of selling the railway line to some businessmen without tender. An investigation is going on in this whole case. According to officials, action will be taken against those found guilty in the investigation by registering an FIR.

In this case, the police have so far arrested two accused named father-son Anil Yadav and Rahul Kumar. Rahul Kumar used to work as a munshi in a company cutting scrap in a sugar mill. The work of extracting scrap has been given to a company named Biada, which has been extracting scrap since November 2022. Initially, there was opposition in the village. Now Biada Company is said to be preparing to go to the High Court in the stolen goods case.

At the same time, the security forces are now trying to recover the stolen tracks. During the raid, some tracks were recovered from the house of a man in Belahi village, next to Lohat Mill.
