NEW DELHI: Sharad Pawar, president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), stated on Saturday that while names like Ambani and Adani are often used to criticise the government, we should also consider what they have contributed to the nation.

"I believe that other issues, such as unemployment, price increases, and farmer issues, "Sharad Pawar, NCP's supremo, remarked. "All the opposition parties gathered for a combined meeting, where we covered all the topics. We did not all agree on every issue, but we all voiced our opinions in the meeting "The seasoned leader spoke about "opposition unity" for the 2024 elections.

A Supreme Court committee will be more beneficial and efficient, said Sharad Pawar, who added that he is not entirely averse to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the allegations against the Adani group.
He siad, if a Joint Parliamentary Committee has 21 members, 15 of them will be from the government and six will be from the opposition because of their relative size in Parliament, which will raise questions about the panel. He claimed that the Supreme Court's top court appointed a group of retired Supreme Court justices with the instruction to provide the report within a set time frame. "While there have been JPCs and I have served as chairman of some of them, I do not entirely oppose the Joint Parliamentary Committee .

The JPC will be elected using the majority method (in Parliament). I believe the Supreme Court committee is more beneficial and efficient than a JPC "said Pawar. The head of NCP also claimed that he was unaware of the history of US-based Hindenburg Research, which has accused companies owned by Gautam Adani, a billionaire, of engaging in stock manipulation and accounting fraud.

The opposition Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, and others have launched vehement demonstrations in response to the Narendra Modi administration's request for a JPC investigation. The accusations have been denied by the Adani group. "One foreign business expresses an opinion regarding the state of affairs in the nation. We need to decide how much attention should be paid to this. A Supreme Court panel would be more effective than this (JPC), "Pawar added.
