Today is the birthday of renowned Indian film actress and TV artiste Rati Agnihotri. She was born on 10 November 1960 in Mumbai. Rati belongs to a Punjabi family. She stepped into the modelling world at the age of 10 but her father was transferred from Mumbai to Chennai. Where she participated in many stage shows during her school days. Rati Agnihotri has a sister - Anita Agnihotri who has been a former Miss India. She currently lives in Poland. Rati Agnihotri is the cousin of director Atul Agnihotri.

Rati is married to businessman Anil Virwani. They also have a son - Tanuj Virani. Her son made his Bollywood debut with the film Love You Soniyo. Rati's career began during a school play, as director Bharathiraja saw Rati. On seeing Rati's acting, he selected her for his movie. Rati was only sixteen when she received her first film as a heroine. She was very excited about her debut Vathiya Purgul (1979) movie. Her performance in this movie was highly appreciated by the people. Rati acted in 32 Telugu films in just 3 years.

Rati shared the screen with many big stars of South, including Rajnikant, Kamal Haasan etc. She acted in Hindi films as well. In which her superhit film was Farz and Kanoon. Her opposite megastar Amitabh Bachchan was seen in the film Coolie. She also received the Filmfare Award nomination for movie Tawaif. After marriage, Rati took a long break from her film career. After 16 years, she returned to the big screen with Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi. In this movie, she played the role of Kajol's glamorous mother.
