Recently, the first Indian player, Satnam Singh Bhamra, who joined the draft of the NBA team, failed in the doping test last month, after which he was temporarily suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency. The 23-year-old Punjab player was selected in the NBA team in 2015 but was out of the tournament in Bangalore by NADA during a camp for preparation for the South Asian Games.

The test conducted failed: According to information obtained from sources, Bhamra denied this and said that he has always been a 'clean man' (away from banned substances). Bhamra said that he has requested the Nada's Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel to hear it and settle the matter within three months. According to Nada, he was temporarily suspended on 19 November. Bhamra had decided to withdraw from the 13th South Asian Games, which started from December 1 due to personal reasons. The seven feet two inch player was training at the Sai Center in Bangalore for the South Asian Games. The banned substance found in the Bhamra KA sample has not been detected. According to NADA rules, an athlete has the right to get the B sample examined within seven days of receiving the notice of A sample. If the B sample is also found to be positive, then its case is heard by the NADA's Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel which decides whether to punish or not.

Ban may take four years: For information, let us tell you that if Bhamra is found guilty of doping, he may face a maximum ban of four years for being found positive in doping for the first time. However, it is not yet known whether Bhamra has requested a B sample test. Chander Mukhi Sharma of the Indian Basketball Federation said that he is not aware of Bhamra's doping issue as he is out of town.
